Piatra Neamt – Neamt County

piatra-neamtLocation: the town Piatra Neamt is the administrative center for the Neamt County and it’s located on the valley of river Bistrita. The altitude is 310 m. The hills that surround the town are: Pietricica (590 m) to the south-east, Cozla (679 m) to the north, Cernegura (852 m) at south-west, Carloman (617 m) to north-west and Batca Doamnei (462 m) at south-west. Because of it’s architecture and its natural beauty the town Piatra Neamt is also called Perla Moldovei (The Precious Stone of Moldavia).

Access routes:

On the road

DN15 – from Bacau and Bicaz

DN15 C – from Targu Neamt

DN15 D – from Roman, goes through Girov (from here there is a secondary road DJ 208G that goes to the Hanul Ancutei)

Railway

– the access on the railway is made on the railway Bacau-Bicaz

Aerial

– the International Airport from Iasi – regular flights to Wien, Budapest, Bucharest and Timisoara

– the International Airport from Bacau – regular flights to Italy, Bucharest and Timisoara

– Monastery Bistrita – located at 8 km west from Piatra Neamt, the monastery was built in the XIV century

Monastery Pangarati – located on the Bistrita Valley, was built in the XV century. The old church building has a unique feature and that is that there are two churches on top of each other

Monastery Pestera – located at 7 km from Piatra Neamt

– Monastery Almas – located at 12 km north-west from Piatra Neamt. The cfirst church was built here in the XV century

Monastery Bisericani – located at 12 km west from Piatra Neamt, was built in the XV century

Hermitage Doamna – built in the XVIII century

Hermitage Draga – built in the XVIII century and located at 6 km from Piatra Neamt on the hill Cozla
