Short description

Located in a beautiful natural place, on the eaves of the mountains that surrounds the town Piatra Neamt, The Benedict Monastery “Mother of Unity”, received on the date of 25 March 1998 the first foundation stone from the Pope Joan Paul the II. The founders of the monastery were Arhicenobiul from Arpino and Dieceza Sister-Aguino-Pontecorvo and with the help of the Mons contribution they started to actually build the place on 6 August 2000. The bishop Petru Gherghel was the one that put the stone from the Pope and the saints relics on the place where the actual alter is located.

The construction of the monastery ended in the year 2003 and first opens on 29 of June 2003. Also, in 2003, the Romanian Govern offered legal personality to the monastery and this was the birth of the Foundation “Mother of the Unity”. The sanctity service took place on 7 October 2007.

The Benedict sisters that live here respect the rule based on which the life inside the monastery is like in a family. The priest is the spiritual father and the monks are the brothers. The Benedict monk seeks God through constant prayer and work. They basically live by the rule “pray and work”. For those that want to spend a few days of recreation, of peace and meditation, the monastery offers a guest house.
