09-pelerin-in-judetul-NeamtNeamt County has a very high density of religious settlements and that is the reason for which many pilgrims direct their footsteps to this area. Here, every mountain or cave, every stream of water is connected to some monk or a nun that lived and prayed nearby.

A tireless traveler in Neamt County was Calistrat Hogas that wrote about a road between the monasteries from Neamt County. He left us with a legacy and a beautiful book about his travels through the forests of Neamt County.

Great rulers are responsible for building all these monasteries and hermitages in Neamt County. If you take the road that goes from Piatra Neamt to Bicaz  and further away until you reach Durau resort, on the way you’ll have the chance of visiting monasteries like Pangarati, Bistrita, Petru Voda or Durau. From Piatra Neamt to Targu Neamt you’ll visit Almas, Agapia and Varatec monasteries. From Targu Neamt to Poiana Largului there are Neamt, Sihastria, Secu and Sihla monasteries. This is just to name few, the most known, of the religious settlements from Neamt County.

Another special area is the town of Roman where you can visit the Episcopal Cathedral from Roman and the churches “Precista Mare”, Armeneasca and “Sfintii Voievozi”.
