05-arhitectura-traditionala-neamtNeamt County villages still maintain traditional buildings that represent true life documents about the people that used to live in these parts. These buildings are usually smaller and are constructed using simple techniques. The people that lived in these villages made their own houses and after that they contributed to other bigger and important buildings in the village like the church or the school.

The most important building from a traditional local household was the main house that had a small hall called “tinda” and only one small room. In time they started to build houses with two rooms and a verandah with a beautifully carved wood railing. The interior of the house was decorated with carpets and wood furniture.

The house was one of the buildings that composed a traditional household. We also encounter the place where the cattle were kept. Another important element was the front gate that was made from hard wood with a tall roof and imposable dimensions.

The wood church was the most building in the village and its dimensions were small in the beginning: the reason for that was the low number of people that lived in the village. Starting with the middle of the XIX century the public schools appear that were made from wood and bricks. Neamt County also had a lot of Inns because of the trade routes that passed through here. The old architecture is still maintained in Neamt County and transmits something different than the modern buildings: warm and emotions.
