Pilgrimage on Ceahlau Mountain – August 6 2013

05-pelerinaj-ceahlau-6-august-2013Every year, on August 6 Orthodox believers climb Ceahlau Mountain to take place at the religious celebration of “Changing the face” at the monastery from the top of the mountain. This year religious service was held by a group of priests among which was also the Mitropolit of Iasi, Bucovina and Moldova Teofan.

The day of Ceahlau Mountain is celebrated in the same day as the religious celebration of “Changing the face”. The religious services started on August 5 and continued through the day of August 6. Pilgrims came to participate at this special moment and to enjoy the view from the top of the mountain. The most used hiking route was through Stanile.

The church from the top of Ceahlau Mountain was raised in memory of the numerous monks that used to live on the mountain in the old days. The construction of the church was supported by local believers that helped by caring the construction materials and by the today leader of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Patriarh Daniel.
