Once you reached Neamt County as a visitor you can see the whole history of this place, starting with the ancient stone tools and ending with the modern ones. A complex exhibition can be seen at the history and ethnography museum from Bicaz.

This museum is the most important one from the mountain area. It was first open in 1958 with the purpose of presenting the construction of the first dam from Romania and the creation of Izvorul Muntelui – Bicaz Lake.

The building of the museum was declared a historic monument and was built at the beginning of the XX century. The first room in the museum is dedicated to the historic documents of Bistrita Valley. As an addition to the exhibition you’ll also see the traditional and folkloric creation from these parts.

The museum presents the occupations of the people that lived in this area with their costumes, interior textile decorations, furniture pieces, religious icons and other house objects. The exhibition of the museum ends with a presentation of some of the paintings of Iulia Halaucescu.
