IMG_1934_resize        On Monday, April 6th 2015. Orthodox Christian believers entered into Holy Week and after a few warm days, there came the cold and snow. Those are the Crone Dochia days, as they say, and we can remember the legend of Dochia that could start from such an old reality for over 2000 years.

If you are already at the cottage Izvorul Muntelui and climb Ceahlău on the route with blue triangle to Dochia Chalet, you will see on the way white cliffs scattered around a white stone, the biggest above all, the Rock of Dochia, who closes in it, in its chalk, several legends arisen from a common pit.

Dochia, says one of the legends, was an old shepherdess cavers cocooned in nine coats to climb the mountain with sheep. Because the weather was good, and she warmed beyond measure, until she reached the plateau, she rejected all coats. But suddenly the weather changed, like today, and the old woman froze up with all the sheep until became a rock.

Other legends tell that Dochia was the beautiful girl of Decebalus, or sister, that Emperor Trajan fell in love with. But she did not want him. Disguised as a shepherd, she took refuge with several sheep climbing Ceahlău. Because soldiers sent after her were to catch her, prayed to Zamolxe to be turned into a rock, not to became a slave. God has turned to stone the girl and sheep. So Dochia Rock appeared. The fact is that the mystery hovers around the cliffs of Ceahlău about who wrote Vasile Parvan in Getica and George Musu in his book Thracian Mythology. But in Ceahlău, every big rock corner has its legend, seemingly a sign left by those who lived before us that the dead speak to the living through legends, the living worships the dead!
