The National Park Ceahlau contains three reservations: The Scientific Reservation “Ocolasul Mare”, The Botanic Natural Reservation “Polita cu Crini” and the nature monuments “Duruitoarea Waterfall” and “Avenul Mare” (The Big Pothole). Duruitoarea waterfall is the most important attraction from Ceahlau Mountain with a height of over 30 meters.

Ceahlau Mountain has 7 touristic routes that are well marked for tourists. Once you reach the top of the mountain the winter images will show you the surrounding mountains: Hasmas, “Pietrele Rosii” and “Magura Grintiesului”. The trail that goes to Dochia Chalet takes you near the rock called “Piatra Lacrimata” (The Weeping Stone) and then near “Stefan cel Mare” Monastery.

The church of the monastery was built in 1993 near Dochia Chalet. The tallest peak from Ceahlau that is accessible to tourists is Toaca where there is also the meteorological station. Ceahlau Mountain is a mountain of passion and great sceneries.

Seeing the sunset on the top of this mountain will be an almost spiritual experience. The sun going down, the silhouette of Toaca Peak and the profile of the church, the surrounding mountain edges covered in clouds, the redness of the light … everything is perfect for nature lovers and those that love photography. Guests are welcomed in the pensions from the area with a small glass of tuica (local alcoholic drink) or wine, bread and salt. The menu contains traditional food and natural drinks prepared usually by the keeper of the pension.

Neamt Stronghold is a medieval touristic attraction built by ruler Petru Musat in the XIV century. The stronghold was restored in 2009. The golden age of this place was when ruler in Moldova region was Stefan cel Mare.

The Memorial House Ion Creanga is a typical architectural monument where tourists come to discover the funny atmosphere from the tales of our greatest story taller Ion Creanga. This is the house where the writer grew and where the famous stories of his childhood took place.

The Aurochs Reservation Dragos Voda is one of the biggest reservations of this kind from Europe. The reservation is located in Vanatori-Neamt commune, near the road DN15 that goes to Neamt Monastery and represents one of the most visited places from Neamt County.

Agapia Monastery is famous because of the painting of the church that was made by the painter Nicolae Grigorescu between 1858 and 1861. The monastery also hosts an impressive collection of medieval and religious art together with a library with old books and manuscripts.

Bistrita Monastery was built at the end of XIV century and is also the burial place of ruler Alexandru cel Bun. Here Orthodox believers can see the religious icon of St Ana and tourists can visit the Old Art Museum of the monastery.

The shinny snow covered the tree branches with star garlands and everything seems to be covered in fluffy sugar figurines. Everything stands still while the snow keeps falling down. The last preparations for Christmas night and also for the New Year’s Eve are on the last 100 m: the stores are full with people buying presents and making the last preparations for the holidays.

The lakes Pangarati, Vaduri and Batca Doamnei are located on the middle course of Bistrita river and represent an important link in keeping the biodiversity of the region intact.

Visit traditional villages from Neamt County and you’ll see traditional houses where people still practice the old habits. You’ll witness the making of the wine from ripe grapes, you’ll see traditional carriages coming from fields full of pumpkins and corns.

The villages Magazia and Cracaul Negru impresses the visitor because of their traditional architecture, with wood houses covered with traditional materials and sculpted fences with beautifully decorated gates.

In these parts much of the traditional occupations are still kept alive. A walk through these parts will offer you a chance of seeing a glimpse of the past mixed with the present day way of life.

The road from Cracaul Negru to Cuejdel Lake, Neamt County

From Magazia village the route goes on the forestry road Paraul Gardului . The road twists through trees and rocks until it reaches the lake. Cuejdel Lake was formed in few stages on the middle course of Cuejdel creek and is the biggest natural dam lake from Romania.
