Short description

Founded in 1962, the Museum of Natural Science from Roman is located in a building that is part of the national architectural monuments list, that was built in the XIX century and which also hosted the Foundation Melchisedec – The School of Singers. The building has 260 square m and it hosts objects found after the research work made after 1960 in the area where the rivers Moldova and Siret meet.

The museum, in its 40 years of existence has a wealthy and valuable heritage of collections representing the flora and fauna from the Lunca Siretului as well a collection of over 40,000 insects.

Short description
The Art Museum from Roman was open for the public in 1957 and in the beginning had only one painting to exhibit. The painting was “Stefan the Great” and it was realized in 1884 by Epaminondra Bucevschi at the request of Melchisedec Stefanescu. Initially the museum was located in the same building with the History Museum, but since 1970 it was moved in a building of its own which was built at the end of the XIX century – the building that hosts the museum is a national architecture monument.

The 642 objects that the museum exhibits are displayed in 6 rooms and it gathers works of art in the form of paintings, graphics, sculpture and ornament art. The collection leverages the Romanian art created by artists near the town of Roman. Among the artists that have their works exposed in the museum we can list: Maria Ciurdea Steurer, Iosif Steurer, Stavru Tarasov, Jean Cosmovici, Constantin Isachie, Nicu Enea.

The main exhibition also has an important number of works from the artists Gh. Iliescu, Adrian Secoseanu, Petre Hartopeanu, Corina Lecca, Rodica Bondi, Clement Pompiliu, Iulia Halaucescu, Stefan Hotnog, Victor-Mihailescu Craiu, Ligia Macovei, Gh. Saru, Spiru Chintila, Ion Salisteanu.

Short description

The History Museum from Roman was inaugurated on 1^st of September 1957. The director at that moment was Vasile Ursachi – at that point the institution had no heritage (no objects to display). Since then the museum functioned in many locations but these days can be found in the Negruzzi Palace. The building that hosts the museum is a monument of Baroque architecture from the second half of the XIX century – the most important characteristic of this building is the celling which was ornate by Ludwig Branner in 1884.

The first exhibition of the history museum was open for public in 1958 and it had only 3 pieces. Today the collection numbers over 170,000 objects. The exhibition is permanent and it’s hosted in 15 rooms. The objects displayed here are from the era of the carved-stone and up until the First World War. Also, the exhibition features a portion of the Siret River.

Among the rare objects displayed here we can list: the neolitic thesaurus Cucuteni A, the necropolis inventory from Văleni, 480 ornament pieces found at Brad and that are from the Cucuteni A-B, a collier made out of 220 deer canines (the biggest collier in the South-East Europe), medieval object from the medieval city of Roman, coins and other objects of great historical value.
