In Neamt County pilgrims and tourists will visit some of the most well known monasteries from Moldova region and Romania. One of these monasteries is Sihastria Monastery, an important religious settlement from the medieval era.

St Teodora from Sihla Cathedral, Neamt County

The Cathedral “St Teodora from Sihla” is located in the inner court of Sihastria Monastery and it’s dedicated to St Teodora that lived in Sihla Mountains and was canonized as a saint in 1992. The monks from Sihastria built this church with the intention to bring here the holy relics of St Teodora that are now in Kiev.

You can visit the cell of Father Cleopa Ilie at Sihastria Monastery from Neamt County. Father Cleopa was one of the greatest monks that lived in modern times in Romania. His words of wisdom were listen by thousands of pilgrims that came to Sihastria Monastery. Since Father Cleopa left this world, the small cell where he lived became a place of pilgrimage.

Sihastria Monastery – Neamt County

Sihastria Monastery is located in the north part of Neamt County, at 22 km of Targu Neamt, on the road that goes toPipirig and Vatra Dornei. The secondary road that goes to the monastery it’s about 15 km, runs nearby Ozana river and crosses the valley of the brook called Secu. After 4 km you reach Secu Monastery and after another 3 km you’ll see Sihastria Monastery.
