Short description:

The Natural Park Vanatori Neamt is a protected area starting with the year 1998 and its main objective is to protect the population of aurochs. The park streaches over 30,818 ha.

The fauna of the park includes some rare species like the brown bear, the wols the aurochs, the fox, the Carpathian stag and many more. The aurochs are the symbol of this part of Romania called Moldavia. The tourists can see some aurochs in the Dragos Voda reservation.

Over 100 bird species live in the park. The flora includes over 50 rare species that are protected by law. In the part of the park called Dumbrava we can see old oaks of over 150 or 200 years.

Natural reservations from the Natural Park Vanatori Neamt:

Forests of copper - is situated on the hill Filiorul in the commune Agapia and includes over 300 plant species of rare beauty.

Silver Forest – is a composite reserve, forest and landscape and includes old trees older than 100 years.

Aurochs and Fauna Reserve “Dragos Voda” – is one of the 4 existing reserves of Aurochs in our country and is classified as one of the largest reserves of its kind from Europe

Short description

The Emerald Forest, also known as The Oak Reservation Dumbrava, covers 56,5 ha and it’s formed of old oaks with an age between 150 and 200 years.

This natural reservation is impressive because of the look of the old oaks. The flora is quite rich and consists in 209 species of plant that belong to 50 plant families.

Short description

The Silver Forest is a mixed reservation which related to forestry and landscape. The area is approximately 2,4 ha and is formed by a type of birch. Most of the forest it’s made out of old trees, over 100 years.

The exceptional beauty of this forest was depicted by our greatest poet Mihai Eminescu in one of his poems. The lyrics say “…Crossing the copper forest, you’ll see something bright in the horizon, And you’ll hear the mighty voice of the silver forest …”
