Bălţăteşti Resort – tourism and health

IMG_4550_resizeThe resort is located in the center of Bălţăteşti village, 33 km from Piatra Neamt and 12 km from Targu Neamt, the main DN15C highway, in an attractive natural environment which creates a favorable environment for relaxation and rest. Along with mineral water springs, the richest in salts of all approved waters in Europe, beneficial in treating various diseases, here we found salts and mud with relevant content of calcium, sodium, chlorine, iron, magnesium, potassium, iodine, composition comparable to that of Vichy resorts in France or Karlovy Vary in Czech Republic. Baths, located at an altitude of 475 m, operating since 1810 due to Prince Cantacuzino, who, at a hunting, discovers some salt water fountains, laying the foundations of future resorts. During the Second World War, the resort is mostly destroyed. In 1948, becomes the property of the state. Since 1953, the activity of the bath shall resume and in 1974 becames a permanent resort.

Since 1993, the Bălţăteşti Resort is taken by the MND, which it modernizes. There are now four hotels offering accommodation and medical services of balneo – physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation through acupuncture procedures, hidro – kinetoterapie in the pool, kinetoterapie in gym, aerosols and external balneo  procedures for degenerative and inflammatory rheumatic disorders, neurological, gynecological, respiratory system and neuroses, also climatic – therapy favored by the atmosphere rich in negative ions in the range of 15 to 18 days, for about 500 patients.

Due to the resort proximity to Ion Creangă Memorial House, Neamţ Fortress, or Văratec, Agapia, and Horaita Monasteries, the “Copper Woods” and “Silver Forest” Nature reserves, tourist objectives that are only few kilometers away, people coming to treatment and rest have the opportunity to visit them.
