Between August 19 and 25, 2011 at Neamt Fortress from Targu Neamt will take place the first edition of the National Lute Festival, a project that wants to promote the lute, an instrument less popular in Romania. The event will gather artists from Iasi, Timisoara, Hunedoara, Carei or Bucharest and other related instruments like Celtic harp or virginal.

The purpose of this festival is to promote this medieval instrument and to send a signal to the teaching schools to introduce the lute in their daily classes. The festival will take place during 6 days at the Conference Room from Neamt Fortress. The music will be pure and the artists will not use any amplification modern equipment.

The organizers of this event wish that in the future such medieval concerts to be held in the inner court from Neamt Fortress where more people can enjoy the music.

The person behind the whole project is Mirel Remescu, from “Petre Tutea” Cultural Center from Suceava. He hopes that this event will place every year in the third weekend of August in the inner courtyard of Neamt Fortress.

The lute is a medieval instrument that is used less and less. The organizers of the festival invite you to Neamt Fortress to experiment a different kind of music.
