Bison in the wild from Vanatori Natural Park
There is almost a year from the moment when the first bison were released into the wild in Vanatori Natural Park. Last spring in the area of Chitele lodge from Cracaoani commune were released five bison, three males and two females. During this time two cubs were born, one last spring and the other one this winter.
Being the first winter in the wild the bison returned to the places they used to get food from the humans. Only one solitaire male remained few km from the enclosure but he is also receiving food. The smallest bison of them all is well protected by the females and despite the harsh weather he’s doing just fine.
The release of the bison is part of the project that has as main purpose the conservation of this species in Vanatori Natural Park. In Vanatori Natural Park visitors can see 6 bison at Dragos Voda reservation. At the end of January the administrators of the park will release another group of two or four bison.
