The charm and energy of this valley made the feather of several writers to lay beautiful words that we find from Dimitrie Cantemir in Moldavia Description, at Alecu Russo in Singing Romania or Alexander Vlahuţă in Romania picturesque. Among many others, Sadoveanu, charmed by the character of people, customs and their way of life, places the action of the novel Hatchet right on the course of this valley. Crossing the county, Bistrita`s water witnessed many historical and economic turmoil, along it have developed communities whose activities were closely related to the environment. Besides wood exploitation and processing, animal husbandry, at a time when there were not so many drags on the Bistrita course, raftsmen formed a special category that reflected an occupational activity specific to places.

Old Ceahlău, which dominates this whole land, it has always been surrounded by the aura of sacred and spirituality, endless supply of stories and legends and place that shaped the lifestyle of the locals. Forests that clothe the mountain, shelter today monastic hermitages that attract many pilgrims, as mountainous area that Bistrita crosses made possible the development of a rich network of tourist accommodation places. The people are warm and welcoming guests all year, and those who deviate to these places will be fully delighted with the beauty of places and not least the local cuisine.
