Memorial House Veronica Micle

14841664_resizeThe house in which it works today the Veronica Micle Memorial Museum was built in 1834 by Neamt Monastery initially used as guest house. In 1850, was sold to Anna Câmpeanu, the poet`s mother, a Romanian woman who had moved from Transylvania. Veronica Micle lived here the first part of childhood, moving then with his mother in Iasi. The house from Targu Neamt was given as a wedding dowry in marriage to Professor Stephen Micle. Because, at old age the poet`s mother became a nun at the Monastery Văratec, and because she loved this place, Veronica came here often, and remained long periods, especially in summer. In 1886, Veronica Micle donated the house to Monastery Văratec, the poet receiving in return two rooms near the monastery, to stay there every time she came to visit her mother. After a tumultuous life, Veronica Micle dies violently at the age of 39 years at Văratec Monastery. Ulterior, the monastery sold the house. Over time, Veronica’s childhood home in Targu Neamt, being passed on to several owners, it ruins completely.

At the initiative of Constantine Matasa (1878-1971), Veronica’s house was declared a historical monument, being passed in 1982 in the administration of Neamt County Museum Complex, which renovated it, from the old house could be kept intact, only one window. Since the year 1984, when it was opened for visitors, was set up a permanent exhibition of the life and work of the poet moments. We can see photocopies, manuscripts, books, personal items that have belonged her, at place of honor being a plaster copy of the burial mask of Mihai Eminescu, Since 1998, bronze bust of Veronica Micle guards the house consists of three room and a porch, inviting us, though, to make a visit!
