IMG_6429_resizeWhen we are in Durău resort (800m), from somewhere on the slope, we can admire the beautiful view of the Massif Ceahlau dominated by the topToaca (1900 m), the Panaghia and Piatra Ciobanului. Thinking to reach Cabana Dochia through Fantanele, we follow the red tape and climb through the forest of spruce and beech. We cross the county road Durau – Mountain Spring, once a beauty road, and continue our ascent through the forest to the heights of the mountain, so that after about an hour, we arrive at a halting place arranged with banks. Until Fantanele Chalet (1220m), we have a few more steps. Around we hear the fountains spring with the cleanest water from which we can quench our thirst and fill a bottle or two with their crystals. It will do us good. The chalet is well equipped. From the terrace we can admire the view of Durau, of Obcinea Boistea, of Bistrita Mountains, like frozen waves, and the valley of the river Schit. Traveller it sits well with the road so we start on the steep path, until we reach the coniferous forest. After a curve follows a climb and we sneak by the rocks (on our left, in the right is an abyss), we pass a glade, we climb in serpentines the trail and get to a place called La Morminte. If we are tired, we take a little break, admire the views, because it follows to go through the forest again, in serpentines until Curmatura Arsitei from where we see Caciula Dorobantului, The Lake Izvorul Muntelui  and lots of crags on a rock giant. We continue our walk through the forest, on the path lined with trees, go over a rocky ridge and descend to the narrowest part of the mountain. Not before long, we cross juniper trees on the plateau where stood haughty, Panaghia, to which we carefully (a little more difficult is a), not without some photo snapshots. From here, there is not much to just below the peak Toaca and weather station. Even if it is difficult, we can take the path that leads to Toaca to admire the vast stretches from its height (1904m). Once we had satiate our eyes with depths of the beauty, we cross the plateau full of juniper trees and reach the Dochia Chalet (1750m), where expect us a terrace, some banks to halt, a cup of hot tea from aromatic herbs and other new, surprising and great views. If we have time, after we rested and dined, we can go on to Hermitage Ceahlău. The trail is easy to go in any season, with the mention the two most difficult points. Bon voyage!
