31 May 2021 No Comment

Children come together in a special place where they can practice handicrafts and tackle into the crafts’ mysteries, inherited from their ancestors. Children in Săbăoani weave, sew, embroider, love the folk costume and learn to create wonderful things. They represent a new generation of children that learn to carry further the wonderful customs and traditions from the places in Neamț County.

Maria Robu is the one who represents the thread between the old generation and the new one. She is both a folk craftsman and a dedicated teacher at the School and at the Workshop in the village.

The traditional art passionates and more especially those who love the wood carved objects can pay a visit to ”Vasile Găman” Ethnographic Museum, Vânători-Neamț commune, which reminds people of the iconic figure of the folk craftsman. He himself educated several generations of children in the spirit of traditional art and appreciation of authentic values. The museum house collection, opened to the public in 1988, includes over 3000 exhibits, old objects and tools, books, manuscripts, icons, folk costumes, masks, medals, coins, etc.

Both videos are part of the Folk Craftsman project of the Neamț County Council.
