29 January 2024 No Comment

Together, let’s join forces to support ecotourism in Neamț with a vote!

On March 11, 2022, Bison Land in Neamț County proudly took Romania in Top 100 Sustainable Destinations worldwide, by winning the Public Choice Award in the famous Top 100 Sustainable Destinations.

We dare say that the public, and also the community, made a huge difference through their involvement, and so Neamț County, through its most famous ecotourism destination, Bison Land, a unique model of best practices for conservation and promotion of local values, gained global recognition for Romania.

History can repeat itself in 2024, if we remain just as united. “Together we stand, divided we fall”, right? You can cast your vote until January 29, by clicking the link below:

The ecotourism destination has been certified by ANT since 2016, and since 2017, it has been included in the Top 100 Sustainable Destinations Worldwide. It is worth mentioning that Bison Land is the only place in Romania to receive such international acclaim, alongside famous and highly sought-after tourist regions in the world. In 2018 and 2019, the destination was also nominated for Best sustainable experiences and Best wildlife destinations, in the competition organized by Green Destinations. In 2022, it ranked first in the Public Choice Award category.

Last year, Bison Land was nominated for the title “Destination of the Year Award 2023”

“Destination of the Year Award 2023” was an event organized by “Destination of the Year” Club, which aims at supporting Romanian tourist destinations in their effort to create strong brand names in the tourism industry.

Moreover, “Vânători-Neamț Cultural-monastic landscape” is included on UNESCO indicative list, as the first mixed heritage site containing elements of both natural and cultural significance, in Romania.

The ecotourism destination Bison Land overlaps with the Natural Park Vânători Neamț, Târgu-Neamț town, the communes of Agapia, Bălțătești, Crăcăoani and Vânători Neamț. It is being the only destination in the Romania to have been included in Top 100 Sustainable Destinations Worldwide eversince 2017. Several associations and local partners (guesthouses, local producers, craftsmen, schools and organizations, etc.) have worked together for the sustainable development of the micro-region. The international recognition is the result of a series of conservation and promotion best practices, and the involvement of an entire community in the development of ecotourism in the area. It was a long road to go and things didn’t always run smooth. It’s been eight years since the Bison Land Association was born and 12 years since the first bisons were released to populate the forests of Neamț.
