12 October 2026 No Comment

No matter which season you choose to visit, the Ceahlău Massif offers a vibrant spectacle of untamed nature, inviting you to discover its fascinating natural richness, history, stories, and the legends that surround the entire mountain.

Located in the Eastern Carpathians, one of Europe’s richest mountain ranges, the area stands out not only for the beauty and picturesque charm of its landscapes, but also for the remarkable biodiversity of its flora and fauna.

Watch ”The Seasons of Ceahlău”, a 2023 production by Sfinx Film, capturing the beauty of Ceahlău throughout all four seasons of the year:

A history of journeys, writings, legends, and tales describe a sacred mountain: Ceahlău in Neamț

Ceahlău is known as the sacred mountain of the Dacians, Kogaionon. According to local people, there is no other mountain in the entire country that is better known, more frequently visited, or more often spoken of.

“It has given rise to folk tales and legends, as well as wonderful descriptions by many writers,” wrote Professor Ion Simionescu, one of Romania’s great geographers.

Ceahlău is a mountain with an impressive history, visited by distinguished travelers over the centuries and celebrated in numerous written accounts, legends, and stories that have been passed down through generations.
