Bistrita Monastery – Neamt County

Location: Located at a distance of 8 km on the west of Piatra Neamt, on the national road number 15 to Bicaz, in Alexandru cel Bun village , Bistrita monastery lasted for over 600 years despite the hardships of history. Bistrita monastery has a great historical and archeological value because it’s one of the oldest monasteries of Neamt County and Romania. Here we can find the tombs of some great Romanian princes.

Bisericani Monastery – Neamt County

Location: The monastery from Bisericani is placed in the area of the mountain Pietrosu, at an altitude of 650 m, and at 12 km west from Piatra Neamt, on the national road that links Piatra Neamt with Bicaz. The road goes up in a series of serpentines, while you discover the whole splendor of the valley of river Bistrita. At one point you’ll discover the towers of the monastery, almost hidden behind the trees.

Agapia Monastery – Neamt County

Agapia Monastery is located at 9 km from the town of Targu Neamt, at 43 km from Piatra Neamt and to approximately 7 km from DN15C (national road), at an altitude of 480 m. Location: The New Fortress of Roman is located at approximately 5 km from Roman, on the left side of River Siret, near Gadinti village.
Built: in the year 1466 by Stephen the Great
Short description:
The fortress was built by Stephen the Great and it represented an important resistance point and a true fortification of stone. This is the only fortress that was not built on higher ground as other medieval fortresses. The walls were surrounded by a defense trench with a width of 30-60 m.
