Tosorog Cave – Neamt County

pestera-tosorogLocation: The Tosorog Cave is located in the north-east side of the Hasmas Mountain, at approximately 28 km from the town of Bicaz, in the village Bicazu-Ardelean

Short description

The Tosorog Cave is declared a mixed reservation and is known by the locals under the name of The Waterspout with a hole. Located in the Valley of the Goat (Valea Caprei) with a length of 420 m the cave is considered to be mostly formed by conglomerations. The entrance in the first two rooms iseasy accessible to all tourists but afterwards the routes continues through a hole of about 4-5 m, where because of the humidity it is recommended that the tourists to wear some sort of protection gear.

In the Tosorog Cave lives an important colony of bats. Because of the graduate disappearing of their natural habitat these bats are very important for scientists that can study some really interesting species here.

The cave is not arrange, has no electricity and no guide. Because of all this the access is not that easy. These days the local authorities are concentrating their efforts to arrange all that is necessary so that the cave to be visited in safe conditions.
