Vaduri Lake

7 November 2009 No Comment

lacul-vaduriGeographically speaking the lake Vaduri is located at an altitude of 350 m with Stanisoarei Mountains at north and Gosmanu Mountains at south. This is a lake that was created in 1966 to provide electrical energy and just like the lake Pangarati it is the property of S.C. Hidroelectrica S.A. from Piatra Neamt.

The lake is a protected area since 2004 when the lake Pangarati was also declared a protected area. The surface of the lake is about 119 ha. The nearby villages are Preluca, Pangaraciora and Vaduri. The surface of its waters is used by migrating birds as a resting place hence the natural importance.

This place offers ideal conditions to spend the winter for some bird species. In the last years, here, on this lake few bird species come on a regular basis: summer swans, the big duck, the ringing duck, red duck, winter swans.

The lake Vaduri, together with the lake Pangarati represents an important link in the local biosystem.
