The wooden church from Farcasa is considered to be one of the most “gifted” from the entire Neamt County and it differentiate itself from other churches through the wealth of its ornaments that are “talking” about the diversity of folk traditional creations from this area. This church was built in 1774 following a plan in which the altar was under a dome and where a small porch in the south side had the bell tower on top of it.

What’s impressive at this monument of art and architecture is the original way in which local artisans from Bistrita Valley created the ornaments of the church. We can see, under the roof, a belt made of two overlapping planks decorated with two rows of concentric arcs and rosettes, made by puncture technique with paint and poker work.

The support beams for the roof are ornate with rosettes. The frames of the doors are sculpted in elm tree with cords that signifies the sun and the light. The domes are in red and black creating a chess board effect.

In 1837 the original iconostasis of the church was painted by Ion Zugravul. The today iconostasis was made in 1853. Also at the wooden church from Farcasa village you’ll find icons and ethnographic objects created by artisans from different geographic regions.

You’ll see icons from Ardeal painted on glass, The Psalms on the pages of which you’ll see a writing of Ion Creanga’s grandfather and a ball made out of birch bark. In the interior of the church you’ll also see an icon from XVIII century created in a traditional folk style and depicting the Resurrection of Jesus.
