ion-creanga-days-2010This year’s edition of “Ion Creanga” Days will take place in Piatra Neamt, Humulesti village (the birth place of Ion Creanga) and Targu Neamt, between December 10 and 12. In the three days of cultural manifestations will take place several events like book launches, seminars, a literature contest and different shows.

Friday, December 10 2010, 17:00 will be the official opening of this cultural event, “Ion Creanga” Days, that will take place at the History Museum from Piatra Neamt with a seminar called “Redescoperirea lui Ion Creanga” (Rediscovering Ion Creanga). Considered to be the greatest Romanian storyteller, Ion Creanga is well known because of the way he used to tell stories and especially because of its autobiography called “Amintiri din Copilarie” (“Memories from my childhood”).

Saturday, December 9 2010, 09:00 will begin with a religious service dedicated to Ion Creanga. The event will take place at the church “St Nicolae” from Humulesti. After the service there will be a short pilgrimage at the memorial house from Humulesti. Here children from “Ion Creanga” School and “Vasile Conta” Economic High school will perform in a show with traditional customs and dances for winter holydays.

In Targu Neamt, in the conference room of the Local Town Hall will take place the seminar called “Contributia lui Ion Creanga la didactica romaneasca” (“Ion Creanga’s Contribution to the Romanian teaching system”). The third number of the magazine “Antiteze” will be launched afterwards together with a monographic book of Ion Creanga written by Vladimir Streinu.

Sunday, December 12 2010 it’s the last day of this cultural event when it will be organized a thematic trip through all the places related to Ion Creanga. The trip will start in Targu Neamt and will continue with Neamt Monastery, Pipirig village (the place where the grandparents of Ion Creanga lived), Poiana Teiului and Brosteni.

We invite all of you that during your childhood were fascinated by the stories written by Ion Creanga to participate at this event, from Friday December 10 to Sunday December 12 in Neamt County.
