11-frumusetea-iernii-manastirea-secu-2012It’s a beautiful winter with lots of snow in Neamt County. As always the beauty of nature invite you to outdoor walks, to admire the beautiful environment. A beautiful place is Secu Monastery that is located on the range of Vanatori Natural Park, at the foot of Vasan Mountain. The monastery looks just like a medieval city with thick stone walls and defensive towers.

The towers are now covered in snow. The pine trees from the courtyard are also covered in tis white coat. The feeling of peace is amplified by the cold of the winter.

Tourists that come here can visit the church of the monastery, the museum and the two chapels of St Nicolae and “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” where there are the holy relics of Vichentie Malau and Antim Gaina.

Dating from the beginning of the XVII century, Secu Monastery hosts inside its building a precious thesaurus with numerous cult objects, manuscripts, prints and old clothing pieces. This collection is impressive and was named by the great historian Nicolae Iorga “the great wonder of Secu”.
