The Neamţ Fortress is a medieval monument of remarcable value in Romania, situated in the vicinity of the highest elevation of Pleşu Peak. Keeping watch on the Moldavia and Siret valleys, as well as on the access road to Transylvania, Neamţ Fortress has survived numerous sieges over the centuries and stands nowadays as an impressive testimony of a tumultuous history of the Moldavian medieval state.

The fortress was built during the reign of Peter Muşat (1374-1391), but its glorious age corresponds to the reign of Stephen the Great (1457-1504), due to the numerous works for the consolidation and elevation of the fortress walls.
