“The Land of the Bison” as described by the foreign experts, prior to its inclusion in Top 100 Sustainable Destinations, is situated in the ”spiritual heart” of Romania, a renowned area for the sixteen orthodox monasteries scattered in a beautiful forestry landscape. Stunning wildlife, including the great predators of the Carpathians and the European bison, is present in the area. There are also many historical places and museums that represent important tourist attractions. “Taking into account the characteristics of the area, ”The Land of the Bison” will become a preferred location for practicing sustainable tourism based on protecting and improving the visivbility of the local natural, cultural and spiritual heritage, and on the uniform disttribution in space of the tourist intensity, mostly by promoting the indissoluble link between nature and spirituality. The area was certified by the National Tourism Agency for 2016-2019 “.
