New Year’s Festival of Customs and Traditions, 9th Edition

On the last day of the year, the procession of customs and traditions will fill the central streets of Târgu-Neamț.

The parades of costumes, masks, New Year’s wishes, a real carnival loved by the Neamț locals and of great impact for tourists both from Romania and abroad. The festival has reached its ninth edition this year. It is the show that gains, every year, an even greater magnitude, reaching even larger audience because it’s all about preserving and passing on the ancestral traditions, specificity of places and people.

Tomorrow, December 31, 2021, starting from 11:00, the performances will go as follows: The Timișești Group, led by the folk craftsman Ion ALBU, the living legend of the Neamț area; Codrii Neamțului Folk Ensemble Humulești Plow, Creangă’s people from Humuleşti considered the most authentic keepers of the New Year’s ox plow; The Ozana Folk Ensemble The Group from Boiștea , led by the village priest, Gheorghe TROFIN , who teaches the children from the parish the secrets of preserving the Romanian folk traditions; Mugânși de SânzieneCapra Bătrână de la RăuceștiBanda Arnăuţilor Târgu-NeamtCapra Mută ​​PreoteștiUrșii de la Girov, with their beautiful legend of the Mountain Guards.

The event will take place at the “Assumption of Our Lady” Church Square according to the following schedule:

  • 11:00 – bands parade
  • 11:30 – performances of the bands on the festival stage
  • 14:00 – awarding ceremony
