Touristic attractions in the area of Neamt Monastery

Neamt Monastery is the oldest religious settlement from Moldova region and it’s also known as the “Jerusalem of the Romanian Orthodoxy” and also hosts the oldest library. Over time the monastery had a great contribution to the development of the Romanian culture and art in medieval times.

The Wooden church from the cemetery of Sihastria Monastery

At Sihastria Monastery, near the cemetery there is a wooden church of great artistic and architectural value that impresses through the original way in which the craftsmen created the ornaments. The church of the cemetery was built at the initiative of Abbot Victorin Oanele.

The Wood Church from Galu village, Poiana Teiului commune

The wood church from Galu is located inside the cemetery of the village and has as its holly patron St Gheorghe. From an inscription above the entrance door we find that the church was built in 1918 but the Holy Gospel was a gift to the church in November 8, 1780. So there is more than one hypothesis on the date when the church was built.

“Stramosii” Museum of Ethnography from Borca commune

In Madei village from Borca commune was recently opened and Ethnographic Museum called “Stramosii”(The Ancestors) – a place dedicated to old traditions from Bistrita Valley. The exhibition of the museum is a testimony of the respect of the young generation to their parents and grandparents. Here, visitors can admire fabrics that used to decorate the interior of a traditional house, the folkloric traditional costume, objects made by local artisans that were used in daily jobs around the house or different celebrations or customs.
