Bison safari

Tourists interested in meeting the largest herbivor in Europe, living in similar conditions to those living in the wild, and studying the animals in their natural habitat can make an appointment at Vânători Neamţ Natural Park Administration Centre. Nowadays, the Park is the only place in Romania where tourists can visit the bison in three habitat types: inside “Dragoş Vodă” Carpathian Wildlife and Bisons Reserve, in semi-freedom, in the acclimatization enclosure at the „Bisons Management Centre” and in freedom, in the forests of the communes Agapia, Bălţăteşti, Brusturi, Crăcăoani, Vânători Neamţ, Răuceşti, Pipirig, Hangu up to Ceahlău Massif.

“Bison Land” in Neamţ, internationally renowned destination, has been included in Top 100 Sustainable Destinations worldwide, a global contest organized by Green Destinations in partnership with other 20 international organizations working in the field of sustainable tourism.

Eversince Top 100 Sustainable Destinations Worldwide competition has been launched, in the last five years, in 2018 “Bison Land” was nominated for the second time, the first nomination for the same destination in Romania dating from 2017.

The inclusion of “The Land of the Bison” in Green Destinations top was based on well established criteria such as nature protection, landscape management, preservation of cultural heritage, people involved in tourism and the promotion of local brands. Representatives of the winning destinations will be awarded in March  at ITB Berlin. “Top 100 initiative aims to recognize and promote tourist destinations where hard work has been conducted by dedicated professionals in order to make a difference and assure the sustainable development of such areas.
