The summer season opens at “La Caiace” Recreational Complex in Piatra Neamt, situated on the shores of Lake Bâtca Doamnei. The founders of the concept offer its visitors a variety of activities, from water sports, leisure facilities to cultural and artistic events, designed as an alternative to spending time relaxing in the middle of nature. Locals and tourists can choose between a wide range of educational, cultural, sporting and relaxing activities.

Lakes: Pângăraţi, Vaduri, Bâtca Doamnei Located on both sides of DN15, Lake Pângăraţi, Lake Vaduri Reservoir, and Lake Bâtca Doamnei are three of the nine reservoirs arranged on Bistriţa River course, certified as special protection areas. These habitats are resided by numerous migratory birds species, protected both at national and European level, which use the Eastern Carpathian Corridor, thus becoming one of the most important wintering places in the region. The slowly descending water banks and the shallow waters of the three lakes have favored the development of a rich vegetation that allows nesting and feeding the birds, especially swans and wild ducks, remaining in the area for winter. Tourists and locals alike often stop by on the shores of the lakes to admire the amazing landscapes and feast their eyes with the splendors floating on the water: white swans, several species of ducks, mergansers, silver gulls, black-throated and red-throated loons. Rarely, specimens of Bohemian waxwing, arctic loon and egrets can be seen.

Lake Izvorul Muntelui and Bicaz Dam Also known as “the sea between the mountains”, it is the largest reservoir on inland rivers in Romania, and the only lake on which the “Navy Day” is celebrated. The lake stretches its surface over 35 km long, at the foothill of Ceahlău Massif, and the volume of water contained behind the impressive dam, built between 1950 and 1960, can reach up to 1,250 million cubic meters. The dam was built according to the design conducted by Eng. Dimitrie Leonida as a “weight” dam, the largest of its kind in Romania. Being 127m high, it ranks third in the country and ninth in Europe, in terms of height. From the pinnacle in Hangu, tourists can admire the amazing nature and be enraptured by the perfect reflection of Ceahlău Massif (“The Pawn”) in the still waters of Lake Izvorul Muntelui. Bicaz Naval Complex, located nearby the dam, is where trips across the lake can be arranged. Tourists can choose from a various ways of crossing the lake: by boat, pedal boat, mini-yacht or they can also take a mini-cruise to admire the surroundings and roll their eyes over unique, beautiful landscapes: the holiday cottages from Izvorul Alb, the guest houses on the Eastern shore of the lake, not to mention the landscapes of Poiana Largului and the Poiana Teiului Viaduct. There are plenty of accommodations to choose from, whether nearby the lake, or at one of the guesthouses in the area. Angling lovers can practice their skills here, while kayak lovers can take part in Bicaz Kayak Fest.
