Each year on February 24, we celebrate our own traditional holiday dedicated to love: Dragobete. The Orthodox Church celebrates in this day The Finding of St Joan’s Head, a religious holiday also known as “spring head” in our tradition.
Dragobete first appears at our ancestors: Daci. In their beliefs, Dragobete was a matchmaker and a godfather for the animals. Romanians carried on this tradition and transformed this myth in a love story: those that meet in this day will be loved all year long.

Dragobete is the Romanian equivalent of Valentine’s Day. We celebrate this holiday on February 24. This year on Thursday, February 24 2011 the celebration of Dragobete will be organized by “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center together with “Calistrat Hogas” National College. The manifestation is organized on two main events and the purpose of this action is to preserve the traditions and customs related to this special day.

Come to Piatra Neamt on Friday, February 18 2011 at Cozla ski slope starting with 10:00 for the Snowboard event Big Air Contest.
The contest will take place on February 18 on a snowboardcross course specially designed for this moment with snow obstacles where the participants can flow in a free-style or go for speed. Starting with 2006 snowboardcross is an Olympic event and this is one of the reasons we wish this contest to become a tradition here in Piatra Neamt.
