The History and Ethnography Museum Târgu-Neamt has the origin in a first museum exhibition organized at School no. 2 from Tg. Neamt, in 1940’s, having the title Neamt Fortress Museum. In 1957, at the celebration of 500 years of the enthronement of Stefan cel Mare in Moldavia, already existed The Neamt Fortress Museum and the District Museum of Stefan cel Mare , Târgu Neamţ. Almas monastery is built on the site of an ancient monastic settlement dating from the fifteenth century, in a clearing, on the Almas valley, described in writings of Calistrat Hogaş. It is situated at a distance of about 12 km from Piatra Neamt, on Targu Neamt direction.
