The History Museum Piatra-Neamt – 80 years of activity

The History and Archaeology Museum from Piatra Neamt was founded in 1934 by Constantin Mătasa, receiving the title The Regional Museum of Archaeology. After 1960’s it was called The Archaeological Museum Piatra Neamt, from 1970’ s Piatra Neamt County Museum of History, and from 1978’s The Museum of History Piatra Neamt, and finally starting with 1991 it received the title that reflects the real specific of the museum: The History and Archaeology Museum from Piatra Neamt.

The History and Ethnography Museum Targu-Neamt

The History and Ethnography Museum Târgu-Neamt has the origin in a first museum exhibition organized at School no. 2 from Tg. Neamt, in 1940’s, having the title Neamt Fortress Museum. In 1957, at the celebration of 500 years of the enthronement of Stefan cel Mare in Moldavia, already existed The Neamt Fortress Museum and the District Museum of Stefan cel Mare , Târgu Neamţ. Neamt Monastery Museum

This museum is a point of particular interest to visitors of the sanctuary, providing important evidence about religious activity, of those living the monastery, as well as the historical evolution of the Moldavian lands in the regional context. The chantries that various rulers had endowed the monastery, made possible to develop a strong cultural and spiritual center in the medieval period, right up to modern times. Here has worked a school of copyists and calligraphers and a printing that have provided outstanding works to the monastery library, which now contains over 18,000 volumes, and …

Nemțean-traditional folk costume ornament and color

Over time, Neamt traditional folk costume, through shape, color and ornament was one of the most important modes of expression of popular culture in this region.
Traditional Garments fits into the general characteristics of Moldovan folk, but adds various and original elements specific to Neamt county. The folk costume differentiate by destination – work or feast – or after the area who came: mountaineers wore clothing in sober colors and less ornamented, instead the people from the plain have an explosion of colors.

Memorial House Mihail Sadoveanu

The building that houses the Museum of Mihail Sadoveanu from Vanatori, located next to the Hermitage Vovidenia had originally intended to be a Archiery Palace, being built in 1937 by metropolitan care at the time, Visarion Puiu.
