The religious life in Neamt County

There is no place in Romania that hosts so many religious settlements as Neamt County. Monks of more than one nation prayed in these parts seeking for redemption. They came from Romania, Greece and Russia.

The beginnings of the religious life in Neamt County

The entire Neamt County area hosts numerous religious settlements that pilgrims know little about their beginnings. Here some of these places:
Neamt Monatery is considered to be the oldest religious settlement in Moldova region. Early documents talk about monks in this place since the XII century.
Horaicioara Monastery was built in XVII century because of some monks from these parts that decided to go and live deep in the mountains of Horaiciorul. Here they built a church with the patron of “Good News”.

“Bogoslov” Church from the graveyard of Neamt Monastery

“Bogoslov” Church from the graveyard of Neamt Monastery was built on the place of an old hermitage. This religious settlement was built in stone and brick between 1834 and 1835 during the abbots Dometian and Neonil. The church can be visited and is located outside the walls of Neamt Monastery. In front of the church there is a bell tower of small dimensions.
