The history of Agapia Monastery and its surroundings is very old and tightly connected to Agapia Veche Hermitage located on a hill, near the monastery. With this occasion, the History and Archeology Museum from Piatra Neamt will host several exhibitions among which we can talk about a unique exhibition of miniatures “Minimondo” that displays antique and modern objects from all continents. One of the most spectacular hiking routes in Cheile Bicazului starts at the Stone “Piatra Altarului”: that big pointy rock with a cross on top of it. In 1960 at Varatec Monastery, in the buildings from the left side of the architectural complex, was organized a museum with religious objects. What makes this collection different from the ones from Agapia Monastery and Neamt Monastery is that here you’ll see objects not only from Varatec Monastery but also from other monasteries as well: sculptures, embroideries, old fabrics, icons, crosses, clothes and ornaments.
